Silent new Sunday: Real weather in Dubai

This post is my entry to a photo blogging contest! Over at Travel Supermarket, they’re inviting bloggers to showcase their five favourite travel photos that best capture the colours red, blue, green, yellow and white. Having just spent a fun evening trawling through my still-to-be-organised, sprawling collection of images, these are my top picks:
BLUE: Beautiful boy at Jebel Ali, Dubai (peacocks also roam freely outside Zabeel Palace, home of Dubai’s ruler)
YELLOW: Enjoying a quiet moment with my eldest son, with the Hajar Mountains (marking the UAE-Oman border) in the background
WHITE: First time seeing real snow for my little (not so sure) boy, at Faraya, Lebanon. Who knew there were ski resorts in the Middle East?
The rules also state that I need to nominate five fellow bloggers who might be interested in taking part. So, without much further ado, here are five blog friends whose travel photos I’d love to see if they fancy entering:

Good luck everyone!
Camp has got to be one of the greatest inventions known to mumkind, especially in countries where the summer vacation goes on…and…on. This camp, I’m not so sure about, however. At Happy Camp, participants should maintain a general sense of anxiety at all times:
Thank you to Nina at Francey Pants for this photo.
I really hope everyone’s having a lovely summer. We’re heading back to the desert soon and so I’m making the most of all the greenery before we leave. Here are a few of my snaps, including some details from my green-fingered mother’s garden. In a week’s time, I’ll feel like I’ve landed on another planet!
Note: Big white bird included on the request of Son1 who seems to have invented a new game, Angry Swans.

There was an old woman who lived in a …. barrel? I know it should be shoe, but when I saw this photo – taken by my mother-in-law in Lebanon – it really reminded me of the nursery rhyme. Gives a new meaning to the phrase rolling countryside…
And, in reply to the lovely Ms Caroline in Seoul, who just pointed out that it looks like a hobbit house without grass on top, it is all real-sized. I cropped the photo above – here’s the original, with three cars parked outside!
Thought fashion endorsements were the realm of supermodels and celebrities? Not any more. If you just happened to be looking for an Afghan hat, you might stumble across this website selling them. This was a tricky one to photograph, and in case you can’t read the tagline, it says: “Original Wool Afghan hat as seen on TV worn by the Taliban!”
If you’re vegetarian, click away now! Still here? Then this week’s Silent Sunday is a photo of something I bought in our local supermarket at the weekend. I wasn’t sure if the ‘Cheep! Cheep!’ label on it was trying to tell me it was the best-value chicken in the store, or if it was a ‘sound effect’ to go with the ‘too-real-for-my-liking’ package design. Either way, I felt sorry for the bird!
Brothers are the best, especially when it comes to activities like fishing. My DH’s brother lives in Dubai, too, and when we all get together, I love stepping back and watching them all ‘be boys’ together.
Inviting, no? But this is what our pool looks like on a winter morning – deserted! It was a chilly 10 degrees centigrade at 7am today. Brrr! I took this photo at about 10.30am, as the temperature was rising (it’ll hit 24 degrees or so) – and noticed that the lifeguard was wearing a wooly hat!
