Move over multiplexes – nothing, not even lazy-boy chairs with all the frills of 3D, can be more chilled than pulling up your lilo and watching a movie from a cool pool. The climate in the Gulf is perfect for Cine-Splash, which takes place on Thursday and Friday nights during the hot months at our local pool. There’s even popcorn, hotdogs and cocktails. Win, win, WIN!
What a great idea!
Especially the poolside bar!
Another parallel to Arizona! I suppose it shouldn’t surprise me that desert dwellers the world over have found roughly the same ways to keep cool, but it’s always fun for me to hear about the Dubai version of these things. It’s also interesting to realize that many of those things aren’t the norm in most of the rest of the world: when we were living it, it was just life as usual. Bet your boys enjoyed it tremendously!
They really do love it – and as long as my non-swimmer little one keeps his arm bands on, I love it too as I get to read while they’re in the pool!
We’d freeze to death trying to watch a film at night in a pool, over here in the UK, shame cos I’d love to watch a movie that way!
xx
It is a fun way to watch a movie – they used to do an adults’ movie after the kids’ one, and once the children let me watch a whole half of it! 🙂 Thanks for commenting xx
What a great idea! We have Cinema on the Bay here – they put up a giant screen in the park just by the bay, and people come with picnic blankets. The only problems is the damn mosquitoes….
I remember the mosquitoes in Minnesota – land of 10,000 lakes and mossies!
